A sham

It was a sham investigation that didn’t want to find the truth. Even so, there was more than enough information in the public domain to conclude it’s far more likely than not that Ford was assaulted by Kavanaugh.

Ford described an assault by two people she knew at a small gathering. No rational finder of fact could believe she mistook the identity of her attackers, but that is what we are asked to believe.

( Kavanaugh: “I’m not questioning that Dr. Ford may have been sexually assaulted by some person in some place at some time.” )

It’s also not rational to think she was lying, because she told the story to other people for many years prior ( albeit these people did not testify, nor were they interviewed by the FBI ).

Kavanaugh’s reaction when confronted was also telling. For example he claimed of Ford’s account: “All the witnesses who were there say it didn’t happen,” which was a blatant lie ( in fact they said they couldn’t remember ). More lies here.

This was the statement that was blatantly untrue:
“Dr. Ford’s allegation is not merely uncorroborated, it is refuted by the very people she says were there, including by a long-time friend of hers. Refuted.”

It was not. The other people all said they had no memory of the gathering, but they did not refute that it happened in any way.

For example:

“Ms. Keyser does not refute Dr. Ford’s account, and she has already told the press that she believes Dr. Ford’s account,” Keyser’s attorney, Howard Walsh, wrote in the letter, which was sent to the committee overnight Friday. “However, the simple and unchangeable truth is that she is unable to corroborate it because she has no recollection of the incident in question.”

And this was in his prepared statement, so it was no slip of the tongue, it was simply a lie.
