Jodi Arias – Twitter interview with Michael Kiefer

Question: Did you ever think of writing a book about JA’s trial?
Answer: If I were to write a book on the Jodi Arias trial, it would be about how social media and scandal- TV affect the justice system.

Question: Would you say Social Media and Scandal-TV did influence #jodiarias case? e.g. the interview Jodi gave before she had counsel?
Answer: Yes.

Question: Did you ever interview Jodi? Were you ever present when Jodi was interviewed?
Answer: Yes and yes.

Question: Was your interview with Jodi published anywhere?

Question: In your opinion, did Jodi get a #speedytrial ? ( as per US constitution – speedy trial , Speedy Trial )
Answer: Yes. Defendants can waive speedy trial deadline. In fact, Arias tried to push it back further, but prosecution would not allow.

Question: Did you receive any death threats personally?
Answer: Lots of insults and obscenities, but no death threats.
I was also part of the Diana Alvear interview. To clarify: I did not get threats, just lots of insults over Twitter.
My colleague in the interview, Mark Curtis, from NBC affiliate in Phoenix, which shares a news room with us, got death threats.

Question: Was this a novel experience – is it normal for reporters to have abuse and death threats when reporting a case?
Answer: It is unusual, yes, but not unheard of. But in a criminal case, one expect the threats to come from friends of the defendant.

Question: On the day that Robert Geffner testified, did all the reporters stay to the end? You? The reporting seemed incomplete.
Answer: Yes, I stayed to the end. Geffner refuted ME’s claim that the shot disabled Travis. But hearing ended at 9 pm, way past deadline.
Best juror question that day reminded ME that every time he had ever seen that kind of bullet wound, the person was already dead.

Questions Michael did not respond to
Do you believe Martinez gun shot last theory?
Do you know why Walmart return evidence was dubious?
Do you think retrial of penalty phase is good use of Arizona taxpayer’s money?
Do you ever use wikipedia?
Did you file a report for that day? [The day Robert Geffner testified] I had trouble finding a “reliable” source when battling at wikipedia.

Not asked
What is your position on death penalty?
Do you ever use other sites?
Did you ever talk to Jodi’s family / attorneys?
Do you think Jodi had a fair trial?
Did you ever talk with Maricopa County PIO?
Where on the internet is the most comprehensive, best organised source for information about JA’s trial?
